New Beginnings

New Year's Day is a symbol of new beginnings. A new year. The old year is gone and we can never recover that time. What was, was and can't be changed so there is nothing to do but move forward. For some, it's a clean slate, a chance to do all the things that didn't get done last year. For some it's a new diet, a chance to lose all of the weight that was gained last year (and the year before, and the year before that, and so on).

For some, a new beginning is literally the celebration of a new life as is the case of my friend Debra and family with the arrival of not only Ava Marie shown below, but another granddaughter as well. (Ava Marie's picture is courtesy of Debra's blog.)

For others, a new beginning is the beginning of a new life together as is the case of my friend Jerri who recently married her true love and is starting a new life with him.

So, what ever your new beginning, I hope you find happiness in it. Happy New Year!

Awww...thanks for the lovely post and for mentioning Ava. You're right. You can't undo the past, but you can do something about the future. Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Best wishes for a happy New Year, Darlene. Someday all your dreams will come true. You need to make it happen.

You are so right about it being a new year. We need to forget and forgive on the New Year. New Years is a new begining. I am truly looking forward to this next year. Of course I will try to lose some weight like last year. I will get to it one day.
